Any Fruit Sweet and sour sauce


Years ago, there was a fantastic sweet and sour sauce in the supermarkets. Then Macdonalds started selling it with their chicken nuggets, and it vanished from the shelves. If you use apricot conserve in this recipe, your sauce should be very similar to McDonalds sweet and sour sauce

All you need is:

Any fruit conserve or jam
white vinegar

Move half the jar of fruit conserve to another jar
Add 5% of the net weight of vinegar to each jar, so 10% added white vinegar total
For example, for a 500g jar of apricot jam, move 250g of the jam to another jar, then add 25ml of white vinegar to each jar.

Put both jars in the microwave, and heat in 20 second bursts until the white vinegar stirs smoothly into the jam. Put the lids back on, and allow to cool

Warning, the jam will be boiling sugar hot, and sticky like napalm, so be very careful to not heat-shock the jars or spill the contents
